Every day, the inclusion of women in the workforce grows faster. Today, women have access to higher education, better healthcare systems, decent and well-paid work, innovation, value creation, and therefore, to activities that seek to empower them and allow them to develop a broader social role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the professional field, and specifically in the technology sector, a masculinized environment is still evident in technical careers and ICT, which has generated unattractive stereotypes for women who could dedicate themselves to technology. Consequently, girls and young women do not consider studying computer science, multimedia engineering, or electronic engineering, tending instead to focus on more social and human careers. This makes it necessary to give greater visibility to these types of professions and to the women who lead these sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports from UNESCO, only 3% of female higher education students choose to study in the field of information and communication technologies, and within the global workforce, there is a stark gap in female participation in the tech sector, with approximately only 20% of industry jobs held by women. However, we are experiencing a new reality driven by the entry of women into our industry, which has now been favored by remote work. This shift has enabled women to manage their professional and domestic responsibilities simultaneously without any decline in work quality; on the contrary, demonstrating greater effectiveness and commitment to these tasks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At OL Software, we have maintained a steady flow of female hiring over the last 6 years and continue to do so to ensure their presence in high-responsibility roles.<\/strong> Today, out of eight managerial positions, four are led by women, who in turn have other women on their teams playing vital roles in the proper functioning of the organization. This promotes the development of programming skills, enables them to create solutions for all types of problems, and fosters critical thinking. In this way, it drives the reduction of gender gaps and the gaps among women themselves, connecting them from their essence as women\u2014or as mothers, where applicable\u2014as generators of knowledge and capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They promote collaborative actions that drive their workgroups and allow the company to have a comprehensive vision of the technological world, without forgetting the construction of a social network in partnership with men that values diversity to be more innovative and relevant in visualizing the near future, as well as in the constant search for alliances with academic and other technology sector entities, thereby boosting female talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, it is important that from the selection and hiring team we dismantle stereotypes and biases, eliminating discrimination by gender in the hiring process and thus establishing gender equity practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have the challenge of promoting the adoption of ICTs by women, empowering their leadership and decision-making within a company.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

There is still a way to go to generate changes in attitude in the environment and in gender, where their way of seeing the world and approaching their own challenges prevails; however, we are convinced that this experience and subsequent ones will generate a gradual change of thought that leads to rethinking stances and convictions regarding gender equality in the business sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
